Cahuenga fire

March 30, 2007

cahuenga.jpgI was driving back from the store and looked up Fairfax Ave to see what looked like LA’s 9/11. I turned on the radio to find out it was a heavy brush fire traveling up the side of a mountain not too far from Universal Studios. When I got home I took the dogs up our portion of the Hollywood Hills to find it not quite as dramatic as my view from below, but just as big and nasty.

Scary business—good thing the winds were moderate at most. My friends Crosby and Linda live very close, in a great big two-story that they have meticulously restored, down to the the last details, to its circa-1920 original state. It would be a horrible loss.
