Where the flowers went (Marlena Dietrich)

May 21, 2007

Oh dear. I’m sorry but I am obliged to share two version of Pete Seeger’s campfire classic “Where have all the flowers gone” sung in English AND in German by that great folk singer, Marlene Dietrich.

Where have all the flowers gone?

Thanks for the video. I’m enjoying the cruse through your site. As I’ve started to look for other Bourlands in music, I’ve been surprized at the number: Chris Bourland (plays sax in Oklahoma), David Bourland (plays in a Led Zeppelin cover band in Florida), Jordan Layne Bourland (plays blue grass in South Carolina), myself (I play Hillbilly Hick Hop here in Austin) and of course you. That’s the short list, I’m guessing there’s more.

Cheers,
Bourland

Hey Bourland: Thanks for the note. Good to hear music lives in other Bourlands besides me.

My father’s father played for silent films. My father and his sister have always been music lovers who occasionally play, but not professionally.

I’ve played in bluegrass, blues, and a rock band. But it was too loud for my ears.
