Very gay soccer player

September 28, 2007

This just in from by old buddy, mezzo soprano, Kimball Wheeler, who now lives in Mexico and keeps me up to speed about important stuff:

I don’t know who this guy is but (squeals), OMG! he’s so gay!

Welcome to the 21st century of sports. For some countries, the fact that the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association World Soccer Championships is holding its “Gay World Cup” may be no surprise. But to the mostly-conservative Latin American population, this is big. For the first time since it’s inception in 1991, the Gay World Cup is going to be held in a Latin American City: Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Buenos Aires has become a very gay-friendly city, most recently announcing that they have legalized gay civil unions. The final game in the world cup is Saturday, Sept. 29 — expect a party, song, dance and, of course, some protests.

Will you watch the Gay World Cup? Do you think it’s about time? Tell us what you think and, in the meantime, enjoy this entertaining video I found on youtube!

I suppose he may be a soccer (?) player, but here he’s acting the part of the referee. The card, the shirt, the backward running, all giveaways.

Dave: shows what I know about football, or soccer as we call it in parts of America. I grew up in Green Bay Wisconsin, and so since we had the Green Bay Packers emblazoned into our consciousness, football for me will always not be soccer!

And there is nothing wrong with a faaaaaaabulous referee!
