"No, I will not back down that Rufus needs to work on this." Nor should you! It's the kind of positive, constructive comment that everyone, including Rufus, would welcome. For the nasty comments, see the sites that link to my video - you will find them in the statistics underneath the video. Thanks for your kind words!

Yes, I'm behind on my Rufus videography and was thrilled to see him do it. No, I will not back down that Rufus needs to work on this. He should memorize it and learn how to sing it. He will.

I am ignorant of the nasty comments to which you refer.

Good to hear from you!

Roger, I can't believe you only just found my video of Rufus doing Spectre... but then again, we haven't seen you on the board much lately!

I was thrilled to hear Rufus sing this beautiful song, which is one of my all time faves too, and I think he more than makes up for the lack in technique with his wit, charm and disarming honesty. I cried through the whole performance and more than happy that my hubby filmed it so I could watch it later without the veil of tears... That evening in Verbier was truly magical and I will never ever forget it.

Rufus is in a league of his own and I would never dare to compare him to any of the ladies in your post (and yes, I've heard them all and got 2 out of 3 on CD), as others have done and are still doing. I'm referring to blogs that link to your post right now with pretty nasty comments on Rufus tackling this lovely song.

Don't get me wrong, I have welcomed any comment on my video on YouTube as long as it sticks to the facts at hand, like Rufus using a microphone for this song (he did have both mic and monitor turned down for Absence which he did later that evening - guess he didn't feel very comfortable with Spectre yet!). Some posters however, get into personal (yes, plain homophobic) or irrelevant matters. I must admit that I like to keep my YouTube site clean so I deleted those comments but they did make me very sad.

Thanks for linking to my video and take care!

Wow; Baker is so much better in this than in her commercial recording of the piece.

Rufus has a ways to go to catch up to these three!
