There's a very positive review of WALL-E, plus reviews of three other books about Pixar, in the 8 October 2009 New York Review of Books ("Pixar Genius", Christian Caryl).

It will probably be accessible online soon, if not already. The issue has other gems, including Julian Bell's reviews of two books about the nature of art, the second one written by very old friend Denis Dutton, brother of Doug, and the one member of the family from North Hollywood to not be any part of the bookstore business (he is Professor of Philosophy ay U. of Canterbury, Christchurch, NZ).
