Surprise! Rufus has a new song and you can hear it for free right now on the internet. “Ode to Antidote” was written for fashion designers Viktor & Rolf who designed the family’s outfits for Carnegie Hall. My guess is that this is a thank you piece for them. Having recorded “I’ll Build a Stairway to Paradise” and his recent Judy Garland show, “Ode to Antidote” comes from the harmonic cloth of both, meaning 20s – 30s Broadway. It’s a tip of the hat to Cole Porter and George Gershwin. I can almost imagine the song on a bass-less scratchy 78 recording.

brilliant song, brilliant video, had so hoped it was Rufus’ face coming through the smoke…ah well…the boy looks a bit like he stepped off of an aryan youth poster but cute nonetheless.
