The Contrabass Saxophone in E flat

Claude Debussy referred to the saxophone as “that aquatic instrument.” That can be true about certain alto saxes, but the comment can’t really apply to the other instruments. I’ve never seen a contrabass saxophone, and until just now, I’d never heard one. Jay C. Easton seems to be one of the strange birds that plays one. Here is an excerpt from the score to “Grinch” which features Mr. Easton. oddmusic.com introduces us to a whole bevy of far out musical instruments, useful and not.
