Ian Krouse amusingly emailed me this morning, quoting George Harrison, "all things must pass." A week later, it still hasn't.

OOOWWWW. My sympathies. I have only heard about them but the stories are quite evocative.

My father had a couple. On the day he finally passed one and saw it in his urine he told my mother "This is my lucky day", the only time according to her that he had said such a thing in all their years of marriage.

One man I know who is prone to them, one I told "You're a wolf" to his astonishment (a girlfriend had said the same), has an aversion to urination (saving the precious bodily fluids for territorial marking mayhap?), hence doesn't drink very much water. Not, I should say, a particularly advisable pattern of behavior. However, one shouldn't go overboard either. Supposedly a certain acidification is key (insert medical disclaimer here).

As the late Dr. Ursula Greville used to say, I shall hear the good news that you have [passed it]. And let's make it soon.

Having been through my share of emergency rooms, my heart goes out to you, bro... I felt your pain as I read this entry. I hope the exit goes smoothly. Drink lots of water!
