<description>The new President of ACF-LA's board is Kate Gale, a poet and librettist (most recently, of Don Davis' opera "Rio de Sangre."). Thus, unutterable longing, and other delightful phrases that make board meetings oh-so-much-more fun. Kerry Walsh is worthy of such a description and will not disappoint. I highly recommend this concert-- with music from the old to the very, very new. It will be unutterably wonderful :-) For any composer who writes for voice, this will be an ear-opening experience.

ACF/LA Benefit: Kerry Walsh in Concert at 2pm, Ruskin Art Club (800 S. Plymouth Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90005); $30 general public, $20 ACF/LA members.

Also unutterably wonderful was, indeed, Christopher Rouse's massive "Requiem." ACF-ers spent the afternoon with him prior to the dress rehearsal, and I think we all looked like that guy in the old Memorex commercial by the end of the 90-minute, 16 movement work, our hair blown back by the Mach 2 force of this powerful, emotional music. Swed's review was spot on.

It would be great to see you Sunday, Roger!
