Just a few weeks ago a spoke to a grade school friend who still lives in Baldy Village -- she said everything was fine except for the bears, and I just about lost it, as when I was a kid, bears hadn't been sighted up there for generations! Get those Grays out of the back yard. Hawks might not succeed (though they could do psychological damage) but Coyotes, Bears, Raccoons, could make hash of your cages - and the birds.)
