That damn show AI, which I had taken rashly to consist of nothing but histrionically hypermelismatic caterwallers, has sucked me in. The oddest part is that I'm realizing I don't really want my favorite to win*, but do want him to stay in the running so I can hear some more.

The American Idolatry rapproachment started mid-January, when at a remembrance for a dear friend I met Randy Jackson's wife. Something about that one degree of separation got me to tune in. And the rest, as they say...

*rather along the lines of a vicarious fear of success? Hmmm....something to look at there.
