Promotion time

I’m am up for a big promotion at UCLA: it’s called Professor with Great Distinction, or, on the academic ladder it’s called Professor Step VI, where one must show evidence of national and/or international reputation. I received a letter from the ad hoc committee that evaluated my career. It was a “This Is Your Life” moment. Reading it made me realize what a wonderful life and career I’ve had so far. Today, my faculty votes on this promotion. Then it goes to the Dean, and then to the august group known as CAP, or the Committee on Academic Personnel where they will make a recommendation to the Chancellor. My fingers are crossed.
