Prêtre conducts Daphnis et Chloé – Suite No.2 (opening)

April 13, 2010

Today, my colleague James Newton, with whom I am teaching in our Music History, Culture and Creativity class, brought this stunning performance to our attention. “It’s a Viennese orchestra and it sounds completely French!” he exclaimed.

Prêtre’s performance is simply stunning. As he looks up to the brass section, it’s as though he is speaking, no, communicating psychically with angels. His ecstacy is palpable. The performance is thrilling.
